That said there are really over the top anti-piracy measures that inferer with it running in a decent number of legit downloads of it from steam. It never appeared to be like there was a clear pattern in terms of machine specs, operating system etc that caused it from what I saw on the forums and even after over a year the dev has been unable or unwilling to fix the issue and isn't that much help with trouble-shooting it either (not for a lack of trying, just not that helpful although trying).Anyways, if you get it and get it to run then congrats and enjoy, it looks like a good game. But given the trouble I've had and the fact that I've spent about 20 hours trying to get this to run properly I have to give this a bad review.I also have to give steam a bad review with respect to refunds on this since I requested one within the specified requirements and never got a refund or reply from them (I heard they can take awhile but it's been over a year).. Cannot recommend this. Here's why:Control scheme - Play any RTS of the last 10 maybe 20 years. What happens when you hold left click and drag a box around units ? You select them. Not here. You need to hold shift as well. Grouping units does work but sometimes the groups split up and don't behave as expectedPath-finding - an innovation here was grouping several units together , so 4 groups of 5 soldiers become 20 soldiers. Problem is this group is stupid and will often stop after killing most of an enemy squad leaving the remaining stragglers to butcher your baseAI - First you cannot select difficulty level in skirmish , nor any other mode than 2v2 of FFA. And as far as AI goes , the Federacy is good , Rak is ok-ish and Sentinels are borderline pants on head ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Races - they taut the races to be different but besides their resource collection mechanism the mechanics are the same just build power pylons to extend your base which leads me to my next problemBuildings - All races have a central hub and you have to extend the power to build outpost to gather resources. Think to Starcraft or Warcraft or Age of Empires or ANY other RTS. You can expand your base by building a new structure(Command Centre , Town Centre etc); not here , here you expand pylons all over the map and if one in the path gets destroyed - you guessed it - whole outpost goes down. One pro is the campaign. The story and lore seems interesting and the story draws you in so they had at least a competent writer on the team.Plays well on wine as well , just some crackling audio but i don;t care about that.. The main problem with the game is the unit selection and movement controls. Dragging the mouse over multiple units does not do what it should do in all other RTS games ever. The story and art style are good for an indie game, and the sound design is top-notch. The game's presentation is a lot like that of the 2-D Command & Conquer games. But the unit selection does not work like C&C, it does not work like COH, it does not work like Starcraft.. A very underated game.. I just can't deal with the bad pathfinding and controls/UI.. Lovely lovely designed. If you liked Tiberian Sun, you have to try SunAge.. This is an example of were doing research, reading reviews and watching YouTube videos of the game being played, is no substitute for actually spending some time with the it and playing it. This honestly looked right up my street, but having sat down with it for over 4 hours.. it just didn't click with me.Managing squads of soldiers rather than individual troops seemed like a great touch, but it's execution for me is very fiddly... and that's how I feel about a lot of how the game works. I could never find my rhythm, and felt like I was forever battling with the controls, UI and mechanics of the game... rather than just ...playing the game. Also ran into a couple of bugs, one which prevented my from completing a story objective... which is ultimately what made me change from an attitude of perseverance... to one of "I could be doing something more fun with my spare time".A fine effort, I don't regret buying it, but I am sad I didn't get along better with the game. Never mind.. not one for people who don't like micro management.
